We are raising funds for new cricket nets. Our current nets were built over 15years ago by players and we are in need of an upgrade.

Who are we?

Based in the picturesque village of Wanborough on the outskirts of Wessex, we are a small community led cricket club. Last year our 1st team were promoted into the 2nd division of Wiltshire leagues, the highest our club has ever got to. There is some serious talent in the club and we'd love to provide facilities to accommodate our players.

Why are we crowdfunding?

As our club is comparatively small to other clubs in the area, we have missed out on the development of local players due to lack of facilities. With the gears in motion to building brand-new cricket nets due to local grants, we are desperate to complete our goal but we need your help. Cricket nets are not cheap and we are lucky to be given the opportunity with the help of our local council. Our aim is to raise £5000 to go towards this huge upgrade and are grateful to any donations to help us achieve it.

How we’ll spend the money raised

For over 15 years, our cricket nets have stood as a testament to dedication; built by players, with limited resources, through sheer volunteer effort. But time has taken its toll, and now, we urgently need new facilities to continue fostering talent, passion, and opportunity.

Cricket is at risk of fading from the sporting landscape, especially among younger generations. To safeguard its future, we must provide a welcoming, accessible space where anyone-regardless of experience or equipment, can pick up a bat, take a swing, and discover the joy of the game.

Every penny raised will go directly towards facility improvements: constructing new cricket nets, enhancing safety, and creating an environment where both current and future players can train and grow indefinitely. This isn’t just about infrastructure, it’s about ensuring cricket remains a vibrant, thriving sport for generations to come.

Your support will help us expand our club, reach more aspiring players, and share the passion for cricket that defines our community. Join us in building a future where everyone has the chance to play.

Community impact

Revitalising our club’s facilities isn’t just about sport, it’s about creating a hub for the community. New cricket nets will drive increased footfall, attracting players, families, and spectators, all of whom contribute to the local economy. Nearby businesses and pubs will see heightened engagement as more people visit the area to train, play, and socialise.

Beyond economic benefits, the upgraded facilities will raise awareness of our club, encouraging more people to get involved, whether as players, supporters, or volunteers. A modernized, well-maintained space transforms the club’s atmosphere, making it more inviting and inclusive for everyone.

With enhanced infrastructure, our grounds will become a beacon for sporting growth, drawing new members and providing a welcoming environment where cricket thrives for generations to come.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success! At the end of the season, with the Swindon half-marathon returning, we hope to run the course as a team dressed in our full whites

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
