Help us fund scholarships for Creative Screen Retreats to empower the next generation of writers. Invest in the future of UK film.
Our Story: Breaking the "Pay-to-Play" Barrier in Film
The Vision
The next great British film shouldn't depend on the writer/actor/filmmaker's bank balance. At Creative Screen Retreats, we provide the one thing every screen creative needs but few can afford: uninterrupted time, expert mentorship, and a focused creative community.
While our retreats will help dozens of filmmakers and actors find their voice, we know that the cost of education remains a barrier for many of the UK’s most exciting voices. We’re here to change that.

The Mission: The Scholarship Fund
Our goal is to raise funds to provide fully or part-funded scholarship places for our upcoming 2026/27 seasons. These scholarships aren't just a "free seat"—they cover:
- Travel and Accommodation: Taking the stress out of getting to our secluded locations.
- Expert Mentorship: One-on-one sessions with industry-active professionals. .
- Catered Creative Space: Removing the "mental load" of daily life so the focus stays on levelling up their creative skill set for what the industry actually requires.
Meet the Team

We aren't just fans of film; we are practitioners with a proven track record.

Tori Butler-Hart - trained actor still active in the industry, co-founder of Fizz and Ginger Films and producer of 9 feature films. Also chosen by Screen International as a 'Star of Tomorrow'.
Currently working with Creative East (government backed Growth Programme) on Creative Screen Retreats.
How We’ll Use the Money
It will cover all the costs of all tutors and mentors that we bring in as well as food and accommodation.
We'll be paying for travel ensuring creatives from across the UK can reach us, regardless of location.
We want to partner with local and UK wide organisations to find the right applicants.
Why Now?
The UK film industry is at a crossroads - funding is vanishing, distribution deals are so low that most films don't recoup their money back, making it harder and harder for filmmakers to make a second film, let alone a third.
And the industry is changing quicker than most drama schools are coping with, and actors are not being prepped for the reality of the current industry landscape.
We need new perspectives and fresh stories to remain a global leader in cinema. By supporting this fund, you aren’t just paying for a retreat—you’re investing in the future of the British screen.
