Creative Kids Tackle the Climate Crisis

Why are we doing this?

Young people are increasingly worried about climate change. They hear about the problems of rising temperatures, melting ice-caps, air pollution, burning forests, mass extinction - Yet when they look around, it seems like no one is listening. People continue to burn fossil fuels, waste food, litter the planet and destroy the environment. It is making them sad, anxious and scared!

What is The Solution?

Young people have lots of ideas about how to fix this mess. They bring hope, bravery and fairness as well as their amazing imagination and creativity. Young people often see problems and how to solve them far clearer than the adults around them.  

That’s why we’re putting them on a platform, where they can show their friends, communities and the world new ways to solve climate change and how to truly make a difference!

Who Are We?

We are IVE, a charity supporting a growing number of young people from across Yorkshire that are choosing to take action over the climate problem. We bring together experts and changemakers from the cutting edge of science and technology to support these young people in their common pursuit - to solve the climate crisis with their genius and creativity!

What Are We Planning?                    

In 2025 we want as many young people as possible from across Yorkshire to work with us on collaborative workshops and projects - raising awareness of the power of creativity to fix climate change. 

We do this by Investing in the Next Generation of Climate Leaders

We provide a series of 12 carefully planned workshops led by professional facilitators to support and develop their skills. During these workshops young people look at a specific problem, like air pollution or food waste, then use their creativity and imagination to invent new solutions.

They work alongside experts in science, technology, arts, engineering and many other fields, finding out about exciting industries and careers dealing with this challenge. We show them that they’re not alone and that there are many clever people working tirelessly to improve things.  

With your support we can work with 100 young people and raise awareness with over 500 more. You will be enabling young people in 5 West Yorkshire educational settings or organisations to take action and bring their ideas to life!

The project will run during the Summer Term of 2025.

Each educational setting will receive 12 workshops and take part in a final pitch event, where young people share their ideas with industry leaders and environmental groups.

Where does my money go?

£15 covers the cost of one young person to attend a workshop

£50 buys materials and resources for their projects

£150 covers the cost of a half-day workshop with real experts from industry

£250 covers the cost of a full day workshop introducing creative problem-solving skills

£1500 means you will have match funded a educational setting or organisation to take part

£3,200 covers the full cost of one educational setting or organisation to take part in the project

We are grateful to the Aviva Community Fund who will match every donation up to the value of £250, to a maximum of £50,000!

Successes so far

We have so many success stories! One of our favourites was working with pupils at IQRA Academy, who went on to win the Business of Science Conference £1000 Primary Innovation Prize, presented at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh 2022!

In 2022 and 2023 we were featured on BBC’s Look North. This included our project with Born-in-Bradford and Bradford City Council to raise awareness and find solutions to air-pollution in city.  Clean Air Day Bradford 15 June 2023:
