Creation Mill CIC has been set up to provide workshops & courses in all things textiles, along with a Scrap store and tools library.
Creation Mill's Main Aims
We are hoping the Crowdfunder will be able to support the very start of Creation Mill by helping with the below points;
With your help we can accelerate the plans for Creation Mill and start putting into action the key points mentioned above and get this great project off the ground.
About Creation Mill CIC
Creation Mill CIC is based in Langholm which has a rich textile history, at the height of its success there were over 15 working textile mills producing high quality wool and tweed fabrics.

Creation Mill C.I.C will hope to inspire the next generation to take interest in the local industry, working with local schools, colleges, and the job centre. The programme of workshops and courses will provide a wide range of skills including weaving, darning and product creation.

There will also be a range of groups and workshops based around creating for enjoyment and just having a go at something new. Bringing in skilled specialists in embroidery, dress making, fabric printing etc will provide a wide and varied workshop schedule.

"I'm much more confident in reading a pattern and deciding how things should be done" - Ann, who took part in a Make & Mend workshop in October 2021.
"I'm proud of putting into practice what I'd learnt, a sense of achievement" - Ian, made a waistcoat for himself in the November 2021 Make & Mend workshop.
Future Plans for Creation Mill CIC
In the future Creation Mill C.I.C will also provide flexible meeting/workshop spaces, affordable maker spaces, a scrap store and tool library and tell a story of the textile history of Langholm.
Creation Mill CIC will be a creative Hub for training and workshops, rentable maker spaces, flexible meeting spaces and an incubation space for budding entrepreneurs. The spaces will be pod style units housed inside a warehouse space inside a Mill warehouse space. Each unit will have power points, internet access, eco insulation, heating and lighting. There will be a communal kitchen with coffee and lunch making facilities and toilets that are wheelchair accessible. The units will be available for rent with flexible terms and all inclusive prices, to fit with the needs of the community. There will be a room available for workshops, meetings, groups and parties.
The Funds
The Crowdfunder funds will help start up the project by developing a website for Creation Mill, organise and upload the workshops to ensure a full and exciting diary, allow some of the workshops to be funded or part funded and to help with the rent for temporary space for the workshops to take place.
Thank you so much for your support, it is very much appreciated!
