Your support makes a difference
Helping young people aged 13–17 in Corby gain skills, confidence and experience through local opportunities and partnerships.
Why I Started Corby Youth Pathways
My name is Julija, and I am a mother of two living in Corby.
I created Corby Youth Pathways because I kept seeing a problem that many parents and young people recognise. Teenagers want to work, gain experience, earn money and develop skills, but opportunities for 13–17 year olds can be very limited.
The idea became even more personal when a group of young people knocked on my door offering to wash my car for money. I admired their confidence and willingness to work, but it made me ask a simple question:
Could we do more as a community?
Corby is home to hundreds of businesses, organisations and community groups. My vision is to create a pathway where parents can register their child and local organisations can offer supervised opportunities during school holidays.
These opportunities could include work experience, mentoring, community projects, skills development and age-appropriate paid opportunities.
The aim is to help young people:
• Build confidence and independence
• Develop workplace and life skills
• Explore future careers
• Earn money towards goals such as driving lessons, education or savings
• Create positive connections within their community
How will the money be used?
Funds raised will help develop and pilot Corby Youth Pathways, including safeguarding, insurance, administration, website development, volunteer recruitment, community engagement and building partnerships with local organisations.
I am already speaking with councils, schools, businesses and community organisations to explore support and future partnerships.
This project is about investing in the next generation and creating opportunities that can help young people thrive.
Thank you for supporting Corby Youth Pathways.
