Aim

Sutton Coldfield CC wants to provide a great cricketing experience by providing great facilities to the whole of the local community.

Who are we?

Sutton Coldfield cricket club has been at the heart of the community in it's beautiful location in Rectory park for 175 years. To celebrate 175 years of cricket in Sutton Coldfield we would like to make our facilities welcoming and provide the best cricketing experience it can be for everybody in the local community

The Projects you are Funding?

  • New Scoreboard on the top ground
  • New Sight screens on the lower ground
  • New Picket Fencing around the ground
  • Replace synthetic pitch on the lower ground

Rectory park is a beautiful location used by a range of people including NHS staff from Good Hope Hospital (located across the road), families, young people and individuals for a range of activities from cricket to dog walks, picnics and play dates. We want the cricket club to be the hub of the park and the wider community! Some of our facilities are outdated, tired and no longer fit for purpose so we want to improve the facilities, to improve the park and make the cricket club an enjoyable place to be for all it's users.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The recent global pandemic hit hard and with the ever rising costs of providing cricketing opportunities, we need to raise some money for new equipment and facilities. We hope to raise £9000 that could then by matched by Sport England (up to 50%) to keep cricket in Rectory park going for our 6 adult teams and 9 junior teams for many years to come.

How our project will be United by Birmingham 2022?

Sutton Coldfield CC intend to fully embrace the once in a lifetime experience of the Commonwealth Games on our doorstep.  Cricket will feature in the Games for the first time and as one of the oldest cricket clubs in Warwickshire, we intend to embrace the opportunities it presents.  We already have a Girls Cricket Festival booked a regular Friday night BBQ and a Womens Softball Festival that will allow us to champion sport, engage with the local community and celebrate our diversity as a club and the area we reside in.

This year we will host a 'Help for Heroes' cricket match in August to raise awareness and funds for the former service personnel taking up cricket. Our second charity match will for the Andy Biddle Foundation raising much needed funds for local youth sports, both teams and individuals.

All Stars, Juniors and Girls cricket at Sutton Coldfield CC

The club has run a thriving junior section for a number of years which has got busier as we embrace the ECB National Programmes. Having an inclusive, welcoming club is essential to us retaining youngsters and parents and allowing the club to run a sustainable business model. In conjunction with the Commonwealth Games this year the club has a number of events focusing on Girls and Womens cricket.

How we will spend the money raised?

Like most sports clubs we are run by volunteers and funded by our members. We need to raise money to fund the following projects;

A new scoreboard - our current scoreboard is is broken and an eyesore, we would like to replace with a modern, digital scoreboard to bring the club into the 21st century.

New sight screens - The current screens on the lower ground are no longer mobile, damaged and dangerous, we would like to purchase modern, safer screens to enhance the experience of playing cricket here.

New fencing - The storms earlier in the year damaged the white picket fencing around the ground and as a result the fencing now needs replacing.

If we can beat our target, the extra funding will go towards refurbishing the astro turf pitch on the lower ground and renovating the changing rooms on the lower ground.
