I am Dr Lori Beth Bisbey - a psychologist, sex & intimacy coach, author, educator, speaker, and podcast host. My mission is to help people create and maintain relationships that contain sizzling sex without the shame. Specifically, I help people through coaching, education, and skills-building. I am also passionate about helping people who have been traumatised transition from victim to survivor to thriving. I use the platforms I’ve created like my books, podcasts, speaking engagements, and events to take sex (and conversations about sex) from the shadows to the light.
For thirty three years, I’ve worked with heteronormative and GSRD folks (gender, sex, relationship diversity = LGBTQ+, non-monogamy, kink/bdsm). People who have GSRD identities experience considerable shame and are often afraid to take advantage of reputable resources for fear others will discover and out them or share their personal information in public spaces. Since 1991, I have been hosting transformative workshops and events for the public and other professionals. I am exceptional at creating the supportive and private spaces needed for people to have safe conversations about sex, shame, relationships, and trauma.
The pandemic has made it impossible to host the kinds of events on relationships and intimacy I would normally facilitate. It has left me confined to online spaces with variable levels of security and safety and has practically meant relying on social media spaces to disseminate information. Social media spaces adhere to opaque terms of service that allow them to censor educational and therapeutic information distributed in 'private' groups as well as in ‘private messages. People who are concerned with being known in public don't feel comfortable with these spaces and, therefore, don’t have access to the resources they need.
My team and I see an immediate (and overwhelming) need for a membership-based internet site that contains private forums where people can gather to talk and learn about all aspects of intimacy and healthy relationships. I’m also personally invested in creating a safe space for survivors of trauma to be able to ‘gather’ without being confronted by people who don't understand their struggles or who might exploit them.
As I envision it, this space will include opportunities for self and professionally-guided education, individual connections, and social interactions. Members will be vetted before they join and people will be required to agree to rules that will ensure the safety of themselves and others on the site.
The site will be administered through four levels of membership from very affordable with limited content to an “all access” level that will allow for unlimited trainings and events as well as one to one time with documented and certified professionals.
The site will be for people 18 and over and inclusive of all races, cultures, religions, genders, sexualities & relationship styles
