Aim

We aim to start a Ball Hockey team in Carmarthenshire to compete in the Welsh League.

OVERVIEW

We at Carmarthen Ravens Ball Hockey Club are looking to bring the sport of Ball Hockey to Carmarthenshire. Ball Hockey is a fun, fast paced sport that has all the rules and regs of Ice Hockey but without the need for ice and skates.

Unlike field hockey it is quite a niche sport and as such, it is harder to acquire kit/gear and also attract people as they usually aren't sure what it is.

WHAT WOULD WE DO WITH THE FUNDING?

With any funds we are fortunate enough to raise, we would be looking at purchasing sticks, gloves, helmets, balls and 2 sets of goalposts. With these club items in place we would be in a good position to offer people a free first session, fully equipped. Therefore we could increase our chances of drawing people in to this wonderful sport and growing within the community.

Also we would look to use any funding to help pay for or at least subsidise the cost of venue hire (for practice and matchdays) as well as towards the purchase of club kit. Though our main focus is club equipment to help grow the sport.

COMMUNITY AND WELFARE

As well as bringing a new sport to the area, we seek to bring people together. We firmly believe that hockey is for everyone. The league we intend to enter requires players to be 16+ but mixed gender teams are allowed. With that said we encourage anybody of any gender and qualifying age to join in! We are an LGBTQ+ supporting outfit and we look to help in the fight against inequality and underepresentation in sports.

As a club we also recognise how hard living with mental health issues can be and believe this is a great way to relieve the stresses of body and mind and maybe even make some new friends and create positive life experiences along the way.

We are very passionate about making this work and part of that will always mean safeguarding all our members and making sure they feel comfortable and safe when in the club environment.

IN SUMMARY

We have tried to give as much information as we can, to best inform you of our reasons and intentions for forming this amateur, grassroots sports club. We want to create something new and fresh in the county and help to grow sport and encourage community spirit and wellbeing. Any money raised will solely be used for club funding and no profit will be distributed to any single club member.

Thank you for reading this and for your time. We hope to see you out on the floor, soon.
