We did it! Thankyou all so much for your support.
The rewards are all still available right up until the project closes on Sunday morning, we'll make good use of any extra funding we receive, which will go towards much needed repairs to the roof on our Club Hut.
Thanks to your support we're within touching distance of our target with 2 days to go. Just £765 will take us over the line and mean the world to the club. Please give generously and check out our amazing rewards!
We are Crantock Surf Lifesaving Club and we're raising funds for equipment that is vital to enable us to continue delivering much needed training of nippers and adults as well as keeping Crantock beach users safe throughout the year with our voluntary patrols.
With match funding from Sport England every pledge you make will be doubled and we have some incredible rewards to thank you for your support.
Can you help us?
Crantock Surf Life Saving Club is a volunteer-run, community-focused charity. We provide training for all ages in water safety, rescue, lifesaving, coaching and first aid together with out-of-hours beach patrols; being the eyes and ears for the Coastguard.
In short, we keep Crantock Beach safe for residents and visitors alike, whilst training up future lifesavers.
As demand for surf lifesaving in Crantock grows, we need your help to raise funds for equipment that is critical to the delivery of our core activity, whether that be training nippers and adults to keeping Crantock beach users safe through voluntary beach patrols.
Over the last few years, membership has increased from 88 members to over 140 including a 70 strong nippers group. This is brilliant for the Club and community, however, the lack of equipment is an issue for us, not only for training sessions but also for our on-the-beach lifesaving patrols and provision.
We have worked hard to position ourselves as a valued partner to the RNLI and Coastguard making a significant number of rescues together with 100s of safety advisories across hours of volunteer beach patrols (FUN FACT: we are in the top 5 most active volunteer patrol Clubs in the UK!).
We’re launching this Crowdfunder to raise £14,500 for essential equipment. We’re delighted to have a pledge from Sport England for half our target but need to match this to draw down the funding. It’s a big target, but with your help, we can do this! There are some great rewards on offer too, so get in there quickly to ensure you don’t miss out!
We've got some incredible rewards as a thankyou for your support - personalised thankyou messages in the sand, clothing and wetsuits donated by our amazing friends at Northshore Surf Shop, beach parties and even sponsorship opportunities for businesses. Check out a few of the rewards on offer below and pledge on them using the buttons on the right - some are very limited so be quick!
Funding will allow us to purchase
More equipment means that we can deliver the activity that we believe our members and community should receive.
At present, adult members have to share the few boards we have (some are old and need to be replaced) whilst we need new nippers boards due to increase in membership. We are thrilled that we have been able to welcome so many new members to the Club - we pride ourselves on being community focussed prioritising local residents, in particular its young people. Being a coastal village it is crucial that we give our young people (aged 5 and up) water safety skills. We also like to instil a sense of community for our members - our weekly sessions (beach based in Summer and pool based in Winter) are opportunities to get together, to see or meet new friends.
The overall benefit of this means that
1) we are training up adults and children to be water savvy; we are creating lifesavers for now and the future - therefore keeping our beach safe for residents and visitors;
2) we are getting people outside to be active
3) we are creating a sense of community.
This new equipment would give us more resilience as a Club, ensuring that we deliver this crucial and valued activity for many years to come.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
