We're raising funds to develop an incredible new home for our cricket club!

by James Gibson in Cranleigh, Surrey, United Kingdom

Who are we?

Established in 1856, Cranleigh Cricket Club is a busy Club at the heart of the community playing a large part in the Summer sports calendar and in developing youth sports and activity. This historic cricket club is an important sporting and social asset to the Cranleigh community for both adults and children and welcomes all new playing and social members.

We’re a friendly and inclusive club, with several teams in both junior and senior leagues and we’re strong believers in playing fairly, within the spirit of the game – so much so, that we’re proud to say that we won the Surrey Championship Fair Play League in 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2023!

Why are we crowdfunding?

We’re raising funds to develop an incredible new pavilion on our Common!

Cranleigh Cricket Club is delighted to let you know that we have been successful in our planning application for a new pavilion on the Common.

In line with our 5 Year Vision and in service of the Cranleigh Community, we are aiming to raise funds sufficient to enable the delivery of a beautiful new Pavilion with modern facilities.

The thoughtful and contemporary design means improved playing and social facilities offering playing members and the community a safe and inclusive destination from where the whole family can be encouraged to participate in community sport, socialise and feel welcome.

PLEASE support this exciting and transformational project!

Today we are asking Members and our Community to help us to raise a critical £160,000. This first fundraising initiative is really important to the overall plan - it is the launchpad to the wider fundraising plans needed to deliver such a transformational project.

Dependent upon the level of overall funding achieved in 2024 through this and other fundraising plans, we will undertake the redevelopment in phases. This first phase involves the redevelopment of the existing garage and moving the grounds machinery to a new storage facility, in readiness for the next phase, allowing for new changing rooms to be built.

Our overall ambition for this project thereafter will include the following improvements:

  • Changing rooms for our girls and women - our current facility is inappropriate.
  • All new changing rooms will be compliant in line with ECB guidelines - our current rooms are small.
  • Dedicated Umpire changing and shower facility.
  • Increased hospitality areas enabling the Club to both support local community projects, and to raise operational funds through hire opportunities.
  • Modern kitchen and welfare facilities to improve the experience for all - playing and social members from the community.
  • A fully accessible building for all abilities.
  • Improved aesthetics for our neighbours who live around the Common and for visitors entering Cranleigh High Street.

How we’ll spend the money raised

If we can achieve our fundraising target with this inaugural fundraising initiative, we will deliver the first phase which includes moving the grounds machinery to a new storage facility, freeing up space for new changing rooms to be built in the next phase. We will also use any donations received from you to ask large funding institutions to match-fund against your generosity.

How you can play your part

There are SIX simple ways to help us reach our target of £160,000 and make this transformational project a reality.

 1. Make a pledge today. Please don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

 2. If you are a UK Taxpayer and are donating from your own private account, please tick the Gift Aid option when you are checking out. This means that our Club, as a Charity, can increase the value of your donation by 25% at no extra cost to you!

3. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

 4. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

 5. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes, and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!

 6. Support our Club Fundraising Events - details are on our website www.cranleighcricketclub.com.
