Craft a Path to Freedom

At Caithness Seal Rehab & Release, we are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing sick, injured and orphaned seals from across the north of Scotland. Every seal that comes into our care receives expert treatment, round-the-clock rehabilitation and the opportunity to return to the wild where they belong.
We are a small Scottish charity powered by a passionate team of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly, often day and night, to save vulnerable marine mammals. Every rescue is driven by one goal: to give every seal a second chance at life.
Poppy's Incredible Story
One of our proudest achievements is the rescue of Poppy, an adult female common/harbour seal who arrived at our centre in an extremely poor condition. She was severely underweight, critically ill, suffering repeated seizures and dangerously hypoglycemic and barely conscious. Her chances of survival were uncertain, but our dedicated team refused to give up.
After weeks of intensive care, Poppy made an incredible recovery. Then, to our complete surprise, she gave birth to a healthy pup at our facility. We named her Poppet.
Seeing Poppy recover from the brink of death and successfully raise her pup remains one of the most emotional and rewarding moments in our charity's history. Their story is a reminder of what can be achieved when animals receive the care they desperately need.
Every seal we rescue requires specialist care, nutritious food, veterinary treatment, medication and a safe place to recover before they can be released back into the wild.
The funds raised through Craft a Path to Freedom will help us provide:
Fresh fish and specialist nutrition
Veterinary treatment and medication
Medical and rehabilitation equipment
Daily care for rescued seals
Every pound donated helps us continue rescuing seals like Poppy and gives others the same chance of survival.
As a heartfelt thank you, every donation will receive a handcrafted gift, lovingly made by talented local Caithness crafters. Each gift is unique and has been donated to help support our life-saving work.
Together We Can Make a Difference
When you support Craft a Path to Freedom, you're helping to write the next success story. Your generosity gives vulnerable seals the chance to recover, grow stronger and return to the sea where they belong.
Poppy and Poppet's story proves that even the most fragile lives can be transformed with compassion, dedication and support. With your help, we can continue giving more seals the opportunity to survive, thrive and swim free.
Thank you for being part of their journey.
