Crack On aims to raise awareness of veterans’ hidden battles, break stigma around PTSD and spark change to save lives.
My name is Richy Thrower, ex-forces turned filmmaker. After serving in Afghanistan and witnessing first-hand the challenges soldiers face both on tour and when they return home, I knew I had to use film as a way to tell these stories and spark real change.
With me is a dedicated team of veterans and supporters who share the same mission, to shine a light on the hidden battles too many veterans fight alone. Together, we’ve already created The Last Letter, a short film that sets the tone for what’s to come. Our vision now is to bring the feature film Crack On to life, raw, real and unfiltered.
But this project is about more than just making a film. Our vision is to create a movement that raises awareness, starts real conversations, and drives lasting change in how veterans are supported once they leave service. Unlike the bigger charities who too often fail to step in when they’re needed most, we want to make sure that help actually reaches the people who need it. That’s why the profits from this film will go directly towards supporting veterans across the UK, helping them overcome these issues and finally get the real help they deserve.
The money raised through this crowdfunder will be used to cover production, post-production and distribution, ensuring the film is made to the highest standard and reaches audiences across the UK and beyond, from cinemas to schools to veteran organisations. Every pound raised will help us complete this project, share these untold stories and give something back to the veterans who are still fighting their battles at home.
