Aim

Fundraiser for Andy Smith, a fellow Easton Cowboy, sadly in the advanced stages of Parkinson's. As well as charities HIRN & Parkinson's UK.

Dear all,

This might be a bit of a crazy idea but I’ve decided to try and ,cycle 1000 miles from Lands End to John o' Groats before l turn 70…..which just happens to be this June! Why? I don’t really know, I’ve never been a bucket list kinda person but it feels like the time's right to give it a go. It’s gonna be a massive personal challenge  as I am planning to do this on my own but I know I will have a good support team around me. It also feels like a great opportunity to raise  money for things  that feel important to me on a personal, national and international level right now. And that are also important to my friend Andy Smith, a fellow Easton Cowboy who sadly is in the advanced stages of Parkinson's Disease.

Here’s some more info. All money raised will go to the these causes below - I promise I won’t spend it on an electric bike!

Nick

Nick will be raising funds for Andy Smith & family, and the charities Parkinson's UK and HIRN.

Nick and Andy have been involved with the Easton Cowfolk since the 90's. Both were involved in the Club's transformation from a small football team to the big club it is now.

Nick joined the Easton Cowboys in 1998 and managed the Saturday First team and The Casuals team.  He was also the Chair of Men's football for a number of years.

Andy Smith joined the Cowboys in 1994. He played for the Cowboys for many years. He was Club Secretary and was one of the first trainers of the original Easton Cowgirls football team. He toured Europe, Mexico and Palestine with the Cowfolk and has continued to support the club and causes from Glasgow where he now lives.

Andy was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2022 and has been fighting it ever since. The disease affects everyone differently and unfortunately Andy's path has been very hard for him and his family. Andy had to give up his job and he and partner Jess (who is one of the original Easton Cowgirls) have incurred huge expenses to adapt their flat to Andy's needs and to buy a wheelchair adapted vehicle.

Nick aims to raise funds for them directly to help them through these difficult times and also for Parkinson's UK (who have given them invaluable support and advice) and HIRN (a humanitarian charity based in Palestine that the Easton Cowfolk and Andy have supported since the first Cowfolk tour there in 2007).
