We're still collecting donations
On the 5th September 2024 we'd raised £1,953 with 82 supporters in 63 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We are on our way to getting Coventry a bigger and better skatepark! We need to raise money now for the final design and planning permission

On the 5th September 2024 we'd raised £1,953 with 82 supporters in 63 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We are the War Memorial Ramp Renovation [WMRR] Campaign. We are a group of skaters, BMX riders and quad skaters working with Coventry City Council to get Coventry a bigger and better skatepark.
Coventry needs a bigger and better skatepark! The War Memorial park is the most accessible for people across the city and has the best amenities. It has also historically been the heart of the scene. The skatepark is not big enough to accommodate many action sports and is in a serious state of disrepair meaning those who do ride it risk serious injury. People just don't want to ride it anymore.
We have successfully secured some funding for the new skatepark, but we cannot unlock anymore until we have planning permission secured. Funding often does not cover planning and associated costs, so we need to do this ourselves. By doing it ourselves we also ensure that the final design for the skatepark meets the needs and wants of the local community. A rad park designed by the community, for the community. Once we have planning secured we can then submit applications for larger funds and get Cov the state of the art skatepark it deserves!
We already have support from the local community, Coventry MP Zarah Sultana, Coventry Councillors, the Sports and Parks teams at the council as well as Friends of the War Memorial Park and Skateboard GB. The scene have tried to get a decent skatepark for Cov on several occasions over the past 20 years, now we are in a great position to make it happen!
The money raised will go towards getting the final designs done to the technical specifications required for planning. The designs will be rendered by a leading skatepark building company with links to Coventry in consultation with the local action sports community.
The money will also be used for costs associated with planning - for example, ecology surveys.
Any surplus will go towards the actual build of the park.
There are very few places in Coventry to practise action sports as the skateparks are too small and too damaged. As a result the community is fractured and people cannot progress in their chosen sports. A new skatepark will be a place to bring the community back together around a central hub. A new, extended, skatepark will provide ample space for beginners to get into action sports safely, enough challenge for more advanced riders to progress and enough space for the local community to sit and enjoy watching!
Action sports offers a rich community, with no barriers to age, race, gender, ability, or socio-economic status. The sports foster pro-social behaviour, community, mental and physical well-being. With a new skatepark we can also host more events like Covpark Combat to rejuvenate the community and showcase Cov's action sport talent.
