Regenerate the membership of the club which suffered a decline during the COVID-19 pandemic.
John McCoy Amateur Boxing Club was established in 1975. Since it's inception it has catered for the youth of Warrenpoint and its surrounding areas. Generating numerous champions and it is hoped with a successful fundraising campaign, that the new generation can replicate the past success, post-covid. During covid we were closed for around 10 months, which caused us to lose 25% of our members. We aim to build this back up using this campaign.
The club provides a vital outlet for Warrenpoint and it's surrounding areas. Not only does it promote the skills of amateur boxing, it provides a healthy living lifestyle environment. This helps to address the risk of obesity which is prevalent in today's society. Past experience has shown that our training programs do assist children who are autistic with aiding with their well-being. Through this campaign, we also want to increase awareness for women's boxing by increasing the number of female members.
The club receives no funding from the government and totally relies on donations from the public. All trainers at the club are volunteers. The cost of living crisis has reduced the ability of parents to provide financial support to the club. Running costs need to be covered and the closure during the pandemic has depleted all resources and so this campaign is needed to help replenish funds.
The money will be used to undertake an awareness program to attract more members and also to increase the accessibility of the club to children who suffer from autism. One of our aims with this crowd funding campaign is to begin a new 10 week project specifically for members with autism, which would take place on Sunday mornings
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
