To ensure the Priory remains open & is a valuable asset for the community. To provide local jobs & become a medieval centre of excellence.
The Priory Visitor Centre has been saved by a local social enterprise & reopened 27th May 2017. Our aim is to ensure this beautiful building never closes again to the residents and visitors to Coventry, but we need your help to do this. We receive no funding from the local authority to run this building, hence why we are appealing for you to join the Friends of Coventry Priory.
Our Guide the 'Deep Fat Friar' has been joined by the little Friars who are available to buy as a limited edition; only 24 have been made - if you want to own one of these complete with a certificate of ownership and a scripture get pledging today. The highest donation will receive a boxed Mini Friar and be invited for a VIP guided tour and enjoy a Medieval Afternoon Tea for 6 people
We are run by volunteers Thursday- Saturday but would like to be open every day and be able to pay staff to share their passion for the Medieval City of Coventry. Can you help us do this? A donation of £52 will enable us to remain open and expand our services which include having a cafe/bar installed. The tours of the Priory and Undercroft are becoming very popular and we really want to expand this area with more guided tours with our very own 'Friar'
We are a Community museum run by the community for the community. We also wish to expand our community space to offer conference and event facilities that enable us to become a sustainable longterm business. Plus have the best event space in the City Centre of Coventry.
The expansion of the community offer enables us to look at employing local people and offering apprenticeships to local youths. While the buidling was closed to the public anti-social behaviour increased and we would like to offer the local youths an opportunity to become involved in the building by offering apprenticeships and volunteering opportunites as well as self-development courses.
By becoming a Friend of Coventry Priory you will enable this amazing building housing the original artefacts of Coventry Cathedral St Mary, the Benedictine Priory and the Undercroft. We would like to develop a complete programme of activites bringing the Medieval history of Coventry alive, including tours around the medieval wall and 12 gates of the City of Coventry. Plus we would like to develop a brand new cafe area so we have a sustainable business model and can expand the opening times of this wonderful building
Coventry has a unique history linked with the Earl of Merica (Leofric) and his good wife Lady Godiva, when the City was the 4th richest in the Country. Pru Porreta has been representing Coventry and Lady Godiva for over 30 years and we want to help celebrate with her.
Our social enterprise wants to expand our offer to become a centre of medieval excellence in the Midlands, and a must go to destination for the community; can you help us achieve this please?
By becoming a 'Friend of Coventry Priory' you will help us become a sustainable social enterprise business and ensures the Medieval Story of Coventry continues to grow nationally and internationally too.
