Aim

In our centenary year we want to improve the club facilities for more than 30 teams and community groups that use the club regularly

Who are we?

Coventrians RFC was founded in 1921 and over recent years we’ve taking huge steps to redevelop the club but we have to continue to push forwards to provide our local community one of the best set of facilities in Coventry.

Where we started...

So we are back again after a fantastic campaign previously which allowed us to develop parts of the club facilities that have been enjoyed by the local community in their thousands! The club has seen a lot more people using the facility and the enquiries continue to roll in!

How our project will be United by Birmingham 2022 - Community impact

With the Commonwealth games coming to Birmingham and to the Coventry Building Society we are eager to build and engage with the local community to ensure a lasting legacy in the participation of sports and exercise. After going through a period where many Adults and Children were unable to participate we as a club want to ensure we are providing one of the best and safest facilities in the Coventry area.

Over the last few years we have renovated the clubhouse, the multipurpose outdoor patio area, the changing rooms and installed a new boiler system. We've also been able to expand the playing facilities and upgrade the parking...but these things will require ongoing maintenance and we still feel we need to do more in terms of the toilets, changing and kitchen facilities....as well as the pitch areas so they are fit for purpose when the community need them most!

We have to ensure the facility we provide remains modern, safe, sustainable, efficient and provides everything that is needed for the families and communities on our doorstep to feel at home so we can unite with the Commonwealth games in an effort to create champions of the future - or just improve the mental and physical health of the community.

The opportunity the Commonwealth Games presents and being so local with the rugby 7's is something we hope will inspire generations to get back into sport or to try a new sport out which is why we focus on being such a diverse community base for all.

We are one of the only clubs in the country to provide free food, kit and training sessions. Sport is for all and nobody should be excluded.

We’re proud to be home for Coventry Corsairs who are the City’s only LGBTQ+ inclusive club they continue to grow and we’re happy to support them.

We offer free advertising on the club shirts to local charities each year, run a charity bonfire night, offer free use of the facilities to local charities and have raised thousands of pounds to support local groups.

Our main focus will always be as a rugby club but that does not stop us from being a forward thinking club who help those who need it and offer a fantastic support network.

We’re also proud home of Football Teams, American Flag Football, Bowls, Gaelic, Touch rugby and a host of community groups use the facilities and we hope to be supporting the Commonwealth Games this year!

Why are we crowdfunding?

The ongoing costs for development of the space never go away and your support helps us to continue to move forward and deliver amazing results! We are planning to extend the club in the future but these funds are essential to helping us achieve our goals.

We’ve attached a youtube channel with some of the areas we need to improve and as you can see they are in need of some work!! The main focus is the improvement and reorganisation and modernisation of the Kitchen (below) and toilet areas within the club. We also need to do some work on the pitches which you will see on the channel below to continue to provide facilities to the local community and the teams at the club.

We need to do this to build for the future and to cater for our current users. We have an expanding Mini & Junior Section and are seeing a growth in the use of the facilities by all genders.

This is the first stage of our development plan and we then look at the 5 year plan which will be to build a standalone changing facility which we hope will include additional facilities. We have already engaged with a local architect (some plans below) and we can see how big an impact we can have on getting local people to use the facilities for sport, meeting people, learning and great value entertainment which we are proud to be able to put on working with local charities and our unpaid volunteers.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The club is focusing on improving the changing and toilet facilities for our Mini's and LGBTQ+ teams, updating the community kitchen, the outdoor area to help us to allow as many people to use the club as possible and to allow for the wider community to get back to physical activity and boost their mental health safely. .

How you can play your part

There are a few simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge and claim your reward. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards yourself. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
