Help this friendly, lively club to continue offering the physical and mental benefits of playing netball at all ages.
by Dawn White in Wallington, Greater London, United Kingdom
Lifeline Netball Club started in 1996 expanding from a few friends wishing to enjoy an occasional game to over 160 club members today ranging from the ages of 8 to 60+.
The club currently fields 4 senior and 2 youth teams as well as a thriving Back to Netball section.
Training for all groups is provided by qualified coaches who ensure that all participants enjoy and get the most from their netball sessions.
Our netball court playing surface is in urgent need of replacement. The surface provides 2 tennis and 1 netball court and is used by Wallington Tennis and Lifeline Netball Clubs.
Both clubs are not for profit and use the courts throughout the year but the deteriorating condition of the existing playing surface means that, without investment they are fast becoming dangerous and unusable.
The current playing surface has been in place since 2017 and popularity of the club and the increasing number of people using the facility over the past 7 years means it has now reached the end of its lifespan.
We need to raise around £36000 to remove and replace the playing surface and repaint the court lines. This will allow the club to continue to provide the physical and mental health benefits of this fabulous sport to the local community. We know this is a huge amount of money but as well as this page, we are looking into other means of raising funds such as application to grants and trust funds. So anything you can give will be hugely appreciated.
Lifeline Netball Club is located in a residential area in the London borough of Sutton (https://what3words.com/vital.coach.every) The borough is culturally diverse and the membership of the netball club reflects that diversity with members coming from the local community as well as from further afield.
The club runs sessions and teams for juniors from the age of 8-13, youths for those aged 14-17, seniors from 18+ and the Back to Netball section which includes some players who are aged 60+ .
This wide scope for play enables people of all ages and abilities to get active and involved to the level appropriate to them thus encouraging a healthy lifestyle with all the known benefits to both physical and mental health.
