Aim: This summer, we’re launching a new programme designed to level the playing field for teenage boys by investing in their whole development.
We are a voluntary led cross community constituted football organisation primarily organising teams for the Super Cup competition each year. We are much more than just that though! We are led by a Committee of volunteers from across Tyrone. Our aims and objectives are to support young people across the county of Tyrone by providing opportunities to play football for their County, and also provide regular social opportunities, opportunities to mix with others from different backgrounds & traditions (cross community), provide personal development opportunities, volunteering opportunities, opportunities to progress into future leadership roles, and opportunities to take part in health & wellbeing initiatives.
As well as young people, we also provide opportunities for adults and older people through volunteer coaching and administration opportunities. We provide opportunities for to enhance skills and gain new qualifications through coaching awards, as well as provide opportunities to take on leadership roles within the Committee.
At County Tyrone Super Cup, we’re committed to nurturing the holistic development of our young athletes through sport and opportunities both on and off the field. Historically each year we have played football and that's it! However, this year, we want to deliver a new innovative programme. While our squads are performance-based, we recognise the importance of supporting our players beyond the pitch, especially those from disadvantaged areas and communities who may face additional barriers to accessing comprehensive sports development resources.
Levelling the Playing Field
Therefore, our new summer programme this year is designed to address these disparities by providing:
- New Specialist Goalkeeper Coaching: Offering targeted training to a position often underserved in youth football.
- Nutrition and Recovery Workshops: Educating players on optimal health practices to enhance performance and well-being.
- Accredited Coaching and Refereeing Pathways: Equipping players with qualifications that open avenues in sports leadership and officiating.
- Career Mentoring: Guiding players in exploring sports-related careers beyond playing, ensuring they have viable options regardless of their athletic trajectory.
This new initiative directly contributes to Sport NI’s goal of ‘levelling the playing field’ by making these opportunities accessible to those who have been traditionally excluded from such comprehensive development programmes.
While we have a history of developing football talent, this programme introduces new dimensions to our offerings, focusing on personal development, sports related health, education, and career planning- areas not previously addressed in our standard training. This aligns with the fund’s emphasis on supporting new or additional projects that connect communities and enable more people to take part in sport and physical activity. Sportni
Our focus on teenage boys from across Tyrone in which the majority come from deprived communities so this aligns with the fund’s priority groups, which include children and young people, as well as individuals living in disadvantaged communities. By tailoring our programme to meet the needs of this demographic, we aim to bridge the gap in access to quality sports development resources. Sportni
By upskilling our players in coaching and leadership, we’re not only enhancing their personal development but also investing in the sustainability and resilience of our club. This forward-thinking approach ensures that we’re preparing for future growth and adaptability, in line with the fund’s objectives. Sportni
Through this new programme, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for our young athletes, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to thrive both on and off the pitch. With the support of Sport NI’s Creating Opportunities fund, we’re confident in our ability to make a lasting impact on our community.
We aim to raise £10,000. Sport NI will match every £1 raised up to a max £5,000. Any funds raised will go towards the following:
- Coaching costs (technical & positional)
- Workshops
- Facility Hire Costs
- Project Specific Equipment
At County Tyrone Super Cup, we’ve always been about more than football—and this new programme proves that.
We’re not just developing talented players—we’re helping shape confident, resilient young men who will go back into their communities as role models. For many of these lads, especially those from deprived areas, opportunities like this don’t come around often. That’s why we’re committed to creating something that gives them more than just a game to play—we’re giving them tools for life.
By teaching them about nutrition, mental wellbeing, leadership, and career options within sport (beyond being a proffessional player), we’re not only preparing them for their own futures—we’re empowering them to inspire others. Whether it’s becoming the next youth coach at their local club, helping a teammate through a tough time, or simply setting a good example for their younger siblings—these are the kinds of positive ripples we want to see in our community.
We also see this as a way to tackle inequality head-on. By removing barriers to high-quality development, we’re making sure that where a young person comes from doesn’t dictate where they can go.
In the end, this programme is about building stronger communities by investing in our young people—on and off the pitch.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
