Who are we?
The committee and all the team of merry workers, volunteers and members who give up their time freely are continuing to improve on the great facilities that we have at Cound Tennis Club, the new patio being one of them but we want to do more.
Why are we crowdfunding?
As always these improvements can come at a great cost. We are very grateful for the support we have from Sport England who are kindly offering us a grant for the amount of £10,848 We just need to raise the rest of the total amount needed for the grant to be offered we then can have the repairs and prevention done. So we thank you for any support you can give.
How we’ll spend the money raised
So below we have put into more detail the improvements that we are looking to achieve this year and the following years with continuing upgrades and improvements to the club.
Flood damage repair & prevention
This aerial view shows the extent of the flood and damaged caused
Another pic showing the silt left on the courts after the flood
And every year the clean up begins costing us thousands in damages, loss of clay and damage to lines.
With your help by donating we would like to keep our courts to the high standard they are without the need for extra expense and hard work every year putting them right.
In the future:
- Automatic irrigation system for the shale courts
- Hard standing for a pergola by the hard courts
- Mains water at the hard courts
- Disabled access for all areas
- Gravel the car park
- Lighting for courts and car park
- Club house for the hard courts
- Practice wall by the hard courts
- Outside seating and tables for spectators for both shale and hard courts
Community impact
Without the courts up and running we cannot provide these great playing facilities for the local area and beyond. We aim to improve the club and its facilities to provide all year round tennis with more options like disabled ramps for all entrances and improved pathways and lighting making playing at our club more enjoyable and inclusive. We then can attract more members by offering so much more.
How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
