I will be running a total of 15 kilometres during a week starting with the Reading Green Park Challenge on 3rd April 2022.
Last summer, I started using the 'Couch to 5k' system following lockdown. The last time I had done any 'proper running' was through 'cross country' during PE at school several years ago and it was my least favourite lesson!
I will now be challenging myself to run at least 15 kilometres during the week of 3rd-9th April 2022 starting with participation in the Green Park Challenge on 3rd April which is a 3k run as part of the Reading Half Marathon. The remaining 12k will be run during the following week.
I will be raising money for Linking Lives UK which works across the UK to address loneliness and social isolation among older people. This is achieved by setting up befriending schemes in partnership with local churches in which volunteers visit or telephone those requiring regular contact. There are now over 60 schemes ranging from Inverness to Guernsey. Donations will enable new schemes to be set up to support those most in need of company and contribute towards the costs of training, resources and publicity.
Any donation to support me in this would be appreciated.
Please note that as things stand all individual donations up to £250 will be matched 'pound for pound' by the National Emergencies Trust. *

* If you have already donated directly to Linking Lives, any further donations using the same payment method in your name will not be matched.
