Project aim

To raise money for us to research more products to add to our fantastic candles and wax melts range!

About the project

Cottage gifts has been going for almost 2 years now, i handpour candles and wax melts in my home, and keep adding to the range, each candle is tested and i change 1 element at a time until we get the perfect burn!

I am a stay at home mum with 3 children,one who has Autism,and planned to stay at home until he was settled in school. I started making candles as a hobby, but soon grew to love what i made,and started to sell them, slowly at first but now have returning customers, and my small buisness is growing!

Since i started i have taught myself alot, At first i thought candlemaking was easy, just melt wax, stick a wick in it and done! 

But i soon realised to make high quality candles it takes a lot more than that! I have spent hours researching the best materials, found good suppliers, and many many hours have been spent making candles and learning how to do them correctly. 

I have taught myself everything i already know,from making the actual candles,designing packaging,building a website,keeping accounts, and generally running a buisness!

My range has grown since i started, and although my customers are enjoying what is on offer, i would like to now expand even more, and add more glamorous candles, and other home fragrancing options to the range. 

This will require alot more research and testing, and to enable me to do this i need to learn alot more! 

The money from this project will allow me to invest in some courses,and buy supplies so i can learn other candlemaking techniques, And expand my range. I would like to be able to offer a larger range of scented candles, with other products for all occasions, my idea is that i would like to be able to provide memorial candles, wedding candles,and personalised candles for many occasions. I have plenty of ideas, and i know i can make them once i have learnt the right skills.

My children show a keen interest in my candles, and this is something that i would like to be able to teach them once i have learnt myself, then they will have a skill that they can use to build their future if they wish.
