Mi Cafe is for everyone. Rich, poor, black or white. A cafe where the community can come together, eat and drink and interact. Learn about the community without having to spend large amounts. Products sold at cost price.

Try and reduce the use of food banks. Empower people to work, buy affordable meals out and gain a sense of community.

About the project

The aim of this project is to set up a cafe in South Ayrshire, with a view to open more when successful. I am fed up with profit driven chains selling coffees and food at overly inflated prices, making the normal person unable to visit.

My dream is to open the Cost Price Cafe, where all are welcome. Items will be sold to reflect the cost of production and not profit for the owner. Hopefully after the initial faze of the project the cafe will become the heart of the community, a meeting point, a social gathering where all types of the community come together  and communicate.

The cost price cafe can cater for worker lunches, school children and visitors. Providing a wide range of drinks and good food available to all. 

The news is full of food banks opening and closing, people feeling they can't attend as it's degrading or the food is poor quality. The cost price cafe will allow families to have meals out at a low price, feel part of the community and become involved.

Their will be noticeboards, with community events, job advertisements, adverts etc. picture boards of customers and local information displayed. After time events will be set up such as performance evenings/days for local talent to showcase. 

Having worked as a barista for sometime, I have a good understanding and set of skills to run the project. I have creative ideas to stand out from the crowd and a caring nature that keeps things in perspective.

The funding raised will be used as start up capital, premises and equipment. I will build relationships with sustainable suppliers and I have researched that I can discuss discounts as it is a good cause.
