Supporting young people who are at risk of homelessness through the cost of living crisis.
by Kelly Turner in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, United Kingdom
On the 30th March 2023 we'd raised £3,010 with 19 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Our stretch target will help us to support even more young people who are experiencing crisis.
We are an independent local charity that has been helping tackle youth homelessness in Worcestershire since 1998. The Basement project helps young people who are under 25 with any issues or problems they are experiencing.
We offer a drop in service, floating support (when we go out and support young people in their own homes), mediation to re build relationships, counselling from a qualified counsellor and a food bank, offering toiletries and home starter packs where needed.
Our beneficiaries include young parents, young people experiencing mental health difficulties, relationship breakdowns, domestic violence, or who are care leavers. We are asking for funding so that we can continue to support young people in crisis into a safe new home. These young people have often had the worst start in life, and need our support to help them manage a tenancy. This is increasingly difficult when the cost of living is so high.
Our aim is to help people find a home and keep it. To live independently and start to think about the future.
