We're still collecting donations

Please support Cornwall Cricket Board, so that Cornwall can have its first ever disability team!

On the 1st August 2023 we'd raised £12,666 with 67 supporters in 62 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Any additional funding raised will enable us to open up Disability Cricket in Cornwall further.
Formed in 1996, Cornwall Cricket Board provides opportunities for adults and children, aged 5 and up, of all abilities to take part in Cricket across Cornwall. We want to grow cricket in the County by providing more opportunities for people to take part in the sport enabling them to discover and share their passion for cricket.
Our vision is to have the first ever Cornwall Disability Cricket Team! Cornwall Cricket Board Disability Cricket already delivers school engagement sessions and accessible Lords Taverners Super 1’s Cricket & Table Cricket Programmes across Cornwall. We are also growing the number of Disability Cricket Champion Hubs (clubs) in Cornwall but we want to go a step further and have a county team.
Opening up cricket to more people with disabilities, including at a competitive level, can help with building skills and confidence and improving social networks. People come to our sessions to learn cricket but to also have fun, meet new people and socially engage.
We want to provide those that already take part in our Disability Cricket with the opportunity to be able to grow those skills further by joining our Super 9’s County Representative Team and competing across the South West.
People with disabilities are more likely to be out of work and on a low income which can lead to feelings of isolation. We are crowdfunding to be able to cover the costs of expenses such as playing kit, bats, pads, venue hire and travel costs. We want to absorb as much of the cost as possible so even those on low income can participate.
COVID 19
Those with disabilities were amongst the hardest hit groups during the pandemic, many not able to leave their homes for months. Playing sports such as cricket can help with physical health and well being, reduce stress and anxiety and aid in post pandemic recovery.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Most of our young people have come up from super 1s and never played hard ball competitive cricket before . Therefore we would like to limit the expense to parents and carers to enable all young people to have the correct equipment to play .
Due to the difference in players abilities and disabilities we need a lot of different cricket protection, we are also looking to fund travel expenses to places like Somerset and Devon for matches as well as the cost of venue hire at home and away.
Creating a disability team for Cornwall will not only bring more awareness of Cricket but also to sport, helping to encourage inclusion in sport across the county.
Being part of a team brings with it a sense of community that extends beyond the players to family and friends.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
