We're a crew of final year students from MetFilm Brighton adapting Spectrum Art Award winner Charlotte Amelia Poe’s ‘Cornflower Blue’ into a short film which we'd adore your help in making and joining us along the journey! This is a queer & trans story, think of Heartstopper crossed with All of Us Strangers.
The book Cornflower Blue is yet to be released, but you may know Poe’s other work, like 'How To Be Autistic', and 'Conversations With Monsters: On Morality, Creativity, And Neurodivergent Survival', they have this to say about the project:
We're also thrilled to announce that we have Viv Loves Film’s Emma Topping, Producer of Peter Rabbit and upcoming adaptation of Brian Jacques' Redwall book series, as our very own Executive Producer too!
This is a coming of age romance/drama story that deals with themes of self-acceptance and finding ones place in the world, which we believe to be concepts that are timelessly valuable, and are only amplified by how this is packaged into a small, personal queer & trans story which we aim to take off the page and onto the screen in the best way possible. Ensuring we get representation right and listen, and collaborate with, under-represented voices where we have the option to is crucial to us.
These headlines and statistics show how little representation in film & TV is improving, we have an opportunity to help make the change.
We aim to shoot in March 2025, but we need to source funding now. The funds we raise are vital for making this production, your donations will go towards essential costs from location and transportation to actors and props, and everything in between.
We thank you in advance for any donations, please know that no contribution is too small - and if you can't donate, please share this page and our socials where we’ll be posting regular updates:
