To provide warmth and comfort during the Winter to the West End Community! Providing warm and hearty meals and activities for mental health.
We support a large cross section of the West End community at Cornerstone with a particular emphasis on the elderly, adults with learning disabilities, adults and children with poor mental health and those living in severe poverty including refugees/asylum seekers.
Currently we offer projects which provide enrichment, support and activities to adults and children with poor mental health, Adults with Learning Disabilities and people living with Dementia and their carers.
Alongside this we also operate as an emergency food bank, community pantry, community café, we provide laundry services and open as a preloved shop twice a week (free to those who use the WEFB and WERS).
Winter Warm Hub
This winter we will be extending our reach and our offering by opening as an Enhanced Warm Hub. We will be changing our opening hours to open 5 days a week. We will be providing a safe, warm, and comfortable area for people to sit and pass the time.
Our biggest change is that during the winter months we would like to change our community café into a PAYF (pay as you feel) model offering warming light breakfasts and hearty filling lunches alongside warm drinks.
We will have activities and projects for the enrichment of those who use us. We will be starting Kindful Adults, activities to support the mental health of people living in poverty which in this post Covid era is so desperately required.
This money will be going towards providing a cozy, comfortable and warm area for people to sit and also to provide warming foods and drinks.
This will also go towards the increased utility bills we need to pay to keep our centre operating in these difficult times.
