What you will be doing

As a Social Media & Marketing Volunteer, you’ll play an important part in helping us raise awareness of our work, engage with our community, and promote our events and services. You’ll work remotely and collaborate with our team to plan, create, and schedule content across our social media platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, and X/Twitter).

Your tasks may include:

  • Designing engaging social media posts (images, reels, carousels, or short videos)

  • Writing captions and creating content that reflects our mission and values

  • Updating and refreshing website content to keep it current and informative

  • Promoting upcoming events, groups, and campaigns

  • Creating graphics and flyers using Canva or similar tools

  • Helping us grow our online following and reach new audiences

  • Analysing engagement and suggesting improvements based on performance

You don’t need to be a professional — we’re looking for someone with creativity, enthusiasm, and an interest in digital media or marketing. This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to a cause that really matters.

Support and guidance will be provided, and we encourage your input and ideas.

What we are looking for

Our ideal volunteer is someone who is creative, reliable, and passionate about using social media and digital content to make a positive impact. You don’t need to be an expert — if you have an interest in digital marketing, enjoy writing or designing content, or simply love sharing great stories online, we’d love to hear from you.

Skills that would be helpful in this role include:

  • A basic understanding of social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and X/Twitter

  • Good written communication and a creative eye for content

  • Some familiarity with design tools like Canva (or a willingness to learn)

  • An interest in community projects, education, or supporting children and families

No formal experience is required — just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Benefits of Volunteering:

  • Gain valuable, hands-on experience in marketing and communications

  • Build your portfolio with real-life content and campaigns

  • Be part of a friendly, supportive remote team

  • Make a genuine difference by helping promote inclusive and educational programmes for children and families

This is a flexible remote role that can be shaped around your interests and availability. We’re here to support your growth while you help us grow too!

What difference this will make

As a Social Media & Marketing Volunteer, your contributions will directly help us raise awareness of our work, reach more families in need, and promote inclusive programmes that support children’s learning, communication, and social development. Your creativity and efforts will help us build a stronger online presence, share inspiring stories, and attract new supporters, volunteers, and donors.

Every post, update, or graphic you create plays a part in helping children and families feel seen, supported, and connected. You’ll see the real impact of your work as our reach grows, events gain attention, and more people engage with what we do.

It’s a truly rewarding role where your skills and voice can create positive change — all while building your confidence, learning new tools, and becoming part of a passionate and friendly team.

What to bring

As this is a remote role, you can work from the comfort of your own home. All you need is a reliable internet connection and access to a computer, laptop, or tablet. If possible, using a device with a keyboard and larger screen will make content creation and scheduling easier.

No special equipment or clothing is required. You may find it helpful to have a notebook and pen for jotting down ideas or planning posts. Feel free to have water, tea, or snacks nearby to stay refreshed while you work.

If you need any support accessing tools or platforms (such as Canva or social media scheduling tools), we’re happy to guide you through it.

Accessibility

This is a remote role, which can be done from home with flexible hours. We welcome volunteers of all abilities and are happy to discuss any specific access needs or adjustments. Please get in touch so we can support you to take part fully.

Additional Details

  • This is a flexible remote position — you can volunteer from home and fit the role around your schedule.

  • You’ll receive an informal induction, support with tools like Canva and social media scheduling platforms, and regular check-ins with a friendly team member.

  • We use collaborative tools (such as Google Drive, email, or Trello) to communicate and share ideas — no technical expertise needed, just a willingness to learn.

  • Volunteers are encouraged to contribute creatively — your ideas and initiative are welcome!

  • We ask for a minimum commitment of a few hours per week, but we’re flexible and happy to discuss what works best for you.

  • You’ll be acknowledged for your contributions, and references can be provided after a sustained period of volunteering.

  • If you have any accessibility needs or require adjustments to participate fully, please let us know — we’re committed to making the role inclusive and supportive for everyone.
