Aim

Touring this powerful play across the UK for Irish communities that don't have as much opportunity to engage with the arts + Irish heritage

John MacKenna is an award-winning writer and we wanted to produce our debut UK production with a story that has a strong storyline for female characters as well as for the well-drawn male characters - the corner boys.
The play is set in Ireland and England and will appeal to the Irish community in the UK, and those of Irish descent. The strong connections between Ireland and Britain are deep and diverse. As well as performing the play across the country, our Director Marian Brophy will also host workshops on the tour to further engage this community to have a rich cultural experience directly covering their heritage, producing art that speaks to them directly; as participants of our workshops and audience members viewing the play. Via our workshops that will take place before each performance, we will facilitate conversations between generations, creating interaction between older and younger members of Irish communities via story-telling and sharing experiences of how they remember the time when they left Ireland.

Our vision is to tour this production to areas in the UK with high population of Irish people e.g Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and specific areas of London - Luton, Clapham, Camden and Hammersmith.

The money we raise will go towards production costs including transport, accommodation, food; equipment hire; marketing, press and promotion costs.
