Sadeh needs core funding! If you’ve loved our volunteer days, community meals, fresh plums & joy in the field, please donate!
Sadeh is a community farm and environmental education centre in Kent. Rooted in Jewish land-based traditions and open to all, we connect people of all backgrounds to nature, climate justice and community through food and farming.
Our work is focused on environmental education and regenerative land practices; cross-communal and inclusive engagement; and local and interfaith community building. Immersive farm experiences serve to provide connection to community, inspire commitment to social and environmental justice, and foster leadership.
Our farm welcomes a diverse range of visitors, including people of different faiths, no faith, and many cultural identities. We partner with schools, community groups, and individuals from across London and Kent, creating spaces where everyone can learn, grow, and connect with nature in a respectful and welcoming environment. Our volunteer days, community dinners and educational workshops are open to all. Where cultural or faith-based content is present (e.g. in our fellowship), it's shared through a lens of openness and learning, never expectation.
We’re committed to inclusive access: our programmes actively reach out to marginalised groups including people of colour, LGBTQ+ communities, those with limited access to green space, and others underrepresented in the environmental sector.
Ultimately, we believe that land and food can bring people together across differences and that our role as a farm is to create safe, welcoming, and meaningful experiences for everyone.
This past year alone we ran four fellowship programmes, 30 retreats, 15 community meals and volunteer days, and 20 artist residencies. Together, we are building a dynamic hub for environmental learning and community life.
As one volunteer put it: “The world would be a better place with more Sadeh Farms in it.”
Our team of farmers, workshop facilitators and educators run hands-on and accessible programmes and events. We provide opportunities for people with limited connection to green spaces, offering inclusive projects and activities to engage with the land and climate issues in practical and hopeful ways.
“Sadeh is such a gift to the world, ” one Sadeh fellow said this year.
We use regenerative farming to restore soil health, increase biodiversity and sequester carbon in the local area. Sadeh grows through agroecological principles prioritising La Via Campesina’s definition: “The land does not belong to us; we belong to the land.” Our rewilding plans have included planting hedgerows, 900 woodland trees, creating meadows, living fences and new ponds.
We are grateful to be able to offer so many valuable activities and experiences at Sadeh, but we need your support to keep it going. We are now seeking core funding which is absolutely essential to the running of Sadeh. This funding will go towards:
- community meals bringing people from all backgrounds together;
- accessible rides and accommodation;
- seeds, tools, compost and irrigation - all items necessary for our farm to thrive;
- artists-in-residence programmes;
- flagship fellowship programme
- programmes for schools, youth groups and community groups
- nature-based and learning workshops
- Festival celebrations
“Let the field be joyful and all that are in it” Psalms 96:12.
This year, we plan to expand and deepen our work. With your support, we will continue to grow into a community that serves the world, with all of its diverse identities and backgrounds. We will welcome those who feel like Sadeh is their home and those who have not yet spent time in our fields. We will run programmes and events for schools, youth groups, communities and individual volunteers. We’ll grow over 1,000kg of produce, host 500+ volunteers, donate produce to our local community, restore habitats across seven acres, and deliver at least 60 events that inspire community connection, environmental resilience and deeper rootedness with the land.
