To enable our cooking group to continue to run for the foreseeable future.
Cooking with Joe is a group that we have set up using a small grant we successfully applied for at the beginning of the year. The aim of our group is to provide an opportunity for adults with additional needs/learning difficulties to come and learn how to cook simple but good food. We have been creating recipes in a variety of different formats so that everyone has the opportunity to follow a recipe at a level that suits their individual needs.
Within these groups we enjoy a trip to the shops to get our ingredients, where people who attend will take shopping cards with them to help them remember what they need. Once at the shop everyone goes off to find the ingredient(s) they are responsible for before gathering back at the till to pay for it all together. We then return to the venue and cook the recipe before sitting down to eat as a group. Our aim is to make all that we do as person centred and as accessible to all as possible.
This group is not just developing basic life skills, but it is helping to enhance everyone’s social skills. There has been many a friendship that we have been able to watch blossom over the past three months, which has been a privilege to watch.
‘Cooking with Joe’ has become more popular than we had imagined and are currently able to offer it on a weekly basis. We have almost come to the end of our initial small grant and we as well as the people who attend ‘Cooking with Joe’ really want this project to be able to continue for the foreseeable future.
Joe, Grace, Marc, Yiannis, Sofia, Tash, Sonia and Hannah are aiming to have fun running/walking a 5K Bubble Rush on Sunday 9th July. 5K may not seem like a huge distance, but to some of us participating in the event it’ll be a major achievement, whether it is ran or walked! This 5K course starts in a sea of bubbles and features four Bubble Stations along the route where cannons pump out coloured bubbles.
This is a non-profitable project, we only want to raise money in order to facilitate venue hire and enable necessary resource purchases.
This project successfully funded on 24th July 2017
