Aim

To keep children age 5-16 fed over school holidays by presenting a holiday program focused on eating healthy and preparing nutritious meals

What’s for dinner today? Are we having meat of fish? Questions without answers, Mothers with no cooking plans and children without nourishment. 

Families are facing difficult challenges now with the rising cost of food, electricity and other expenses. They are just not managing to afford to buy the basic ingredients to be able to nourish their children with cooked meals. Now the holiday weeks are approaching and children will be left Hungry without their regular school dinners.

Without food they have 0 chances to succeed and behavior will be full of challenges.  

We are planning to launch a holiday play scheme project – 'cooking for life' where children will have access to healthy food over the school holidays creative positive change.

80 children aged 5-15 will attend a holiday play scheme between 10am - 4pm  during school holidays. Children will be split into groups and will have a chance to plan the meals according to a healthy balanced diet. Using parents as volunteer staff together with our professional cooks led by excellent team leaders, they will work efficiently to prepare healthy meals in time for dinner. We will cook up a storm of healthy nutritious food every day in our newly renovated state of the art kitchen. Children together with parents will be able to learn and gain some great cooking tips as well as ideas on how to budget whilst cooking healthy. This will stay with them forever! 

Some positive outcomes: 

80 children will have had nutritious meals over holidays.

20 parents and 80 children will have learnt better cooking ideas.

All participants joining to program will have gained great team skills.
