Aim: Raising money for our 'Crowned' , 'Love Light' and Next Gen Programs to continue working with young people

Da Bright Lifestyle

About Us

Da Bright Lifestyle  commonly known as 'DBL'  is a non profit organisation that provides mentoring, counselling , family support to young people aged 13-25.

DBL works both in the United Kingdom and in Kingston, Jamaica.

Our work in Kingston, Jamaica is  based in Waterhouse an area largely affected by crime, gang wars, poverty  and unemployment . We carry out this work with our ‘Crowned’ and 'Love Light'  programs where we work with young people aged 13 -25 .

Our 'Crowned' program works with young people who are out of education and not in employment. Using mentoring skills we create a personalised development program and work with the young to either get back into education, employment or develop their entrepreneurship skills.

A Crowned Success Story

Andre was one of our first young people that we supported on the crowned project.

Andre is a 21 year old male who  had experienced a life gun crime, and watched his oldest brother get murdered at  the young age of 11 due ongoing  gang war.

When we  met Andre, Andre did not smile much but he had a desire to do better with his life and not end up in prison or even dead. Andre had left school with no qualifications and had limited reading and writing skills. Through conversations and building a relationship with Andre, we found that Andre did enjoy animals and enjoyed tending to animals.

In a plight to get Andre off the streets, we worked with Andre on a development plan looking firstly at how we can get him back into education and get him started on his entrepreneurial path. Our desire was that firstly Andre will leave his life of crime and enter something more profitable and legal.

Working on his developmental plan, we saw that we had to increase Andre's reading and writing skills, due to leaving school at such a young age, we saw the fear and apprehension  that Andre had regarding education. I was important that we did not force him but allowed him to know that we are walking alongside him.

Then came the idea of walking alongside Andre to develop his farming business. We supported Andre to purchase his first two pigs which then went on to create their own litter of piglets and from there the journey continued.

With the profits that Andre made from his pigs, he went on to reinvest the money into buying some chickens and goats and has continued to profit from his farming business. It all starts with the inside.

  • Where we need you!

We are raising funds to continue the work with our 'Crowned' ,'Love Light' and Next Gen Programs to continue to mentor and support young people and families. We believe that with the right support young people who may just like Andre be  struggling with various forms of challenges such as grief, peer pressure, self doubt  and low self esteem  can overcome these challenges , shine ,discover their passion and laugh.  We want our young people to able to also have unhindered access to mentors whether in the UK or Jamaica so your support will help to make this happen.

Goal

Over the past  years that we have supported young people, we have seen them successfully return to education, thrive, grow in confidence and also start up their own entrepreneurial business leaving the life of crime behind .It is such a joy to see when these young people send their  certificates of achievement and pictures of their  business thriving,

Our Goal is to continue to support young people and make sure that they are given EVERY opportunity to thrive in a world that says otherwise.
