Consett 'Environmental Ambassadors Youth Panel’

Aim

To create a teenage ‘Environmental Ambassadors Youth Panel’, planning and delivering environmental based projects in Consett.

The funding shall engage young people in bringing the Consett community together around preserving and enhancing their shared environment. 

There will be twelve, two hour ‘Panel’ meetings, over three-months to train the ‘Environmental Ambassadors’ and engage them with local employers and educational establishments around the development of localised ‘Green’ based projects. 

Approximately 1800 young people could directly benefit from the projects that the ‘Environmental Ambassadors’ coordinate. 

The ‘Environmental Ambassadors Youth Panel’ would plan and deliver ‘green’ based schemes, across the Consett area. For example, tree & wild flower planting, battery recycling, anti-litter and energy saving schemes. The young people themselves would be the driving force behind the projects and will engage with the wider community to facilitate and them. 

The programme supports the development of longer-term climate action in its youth led approach and shall actively apply COP26 outcomes at a localised level. 

The funding shall be spent on environmental resources for the planting and active engagement aspects of the programme, external environmental visit costs, ‘Eco-Ambassador’ Hoodies, volunteer costs, session delivery and a final community event.
