Aim
The Connecting Cafe is a warm space for the whole community to come together and enjoy good food and company at no or low cost.
Who are we?
Horsham Matters is a charity supporting those experiencing food and fuel poverty in the Horsham District of West Sussex.
- We run foodbank sessions across the district, including from a mobile foodbank, providing emergency food and fuel vouchers as well as advice on budgeting, debt and benefits, plus advocacy and counselling.
- We also provide essential household items to those previously homeless and moving into new accommodation.
- The weekly Connecting Café warm space opened in Spring 22 as a result of the cost of living crisis.
Making a difference
Horsham Matters aims to make a positive and long-lasting impact on people's lives. We are there to help those in hardship at a time of crisis and provide practical advice and support to make a difference for the future.
Why are we crowdfunding?
The Connecting Café: eat, share, donate
No one should worry where their next meal comes from. No one should feel cold and lonely. The Connecting Café warm space aims to tackle this, bringing the whole community together to help each other.
The café is open to everyone: Visitors pay only if they are able; others pay a subsidised rate and can donate a meal if they wish to provide a meal token for anyone unable to pay.
Our trained support staff are on hand to offer advice on coping with the cost of living increases, from household budgeting to debt or benefit worries, along with visits from groups such as Citizens Advice, Age UK and Southern Water.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We are crowdfunding to cover of costs of running the Connecting Cafe warm space and the co-ordinating website for all the warm spaces operating across the Horsham district.
