Aim: To reopening our playpark to create a safe, inclusive space where children play and our community connects, grows, and thrives together.
🌱 A Small Charity with a Big Heart
At the Glencorse Centre, we’re more than a building, we are a lifeline. As the only local community hub within walking distance for many families in Auchendinny, we offer a welcoming, inclusive space where children can play and parents can connect. But right now, our outdoor playpark is closed due to disrepair, leaving our youngest children without a safe place to play.
🛑 Our Park is Closed – And Our Community Feels It
Our current park is outdated, unsafe, and not suitable for all abilities. It's heart-breaking to see families walk past a locked gate, knowing there's nowhere else nearby for pre-schoolers to play safely. With a new 400-home development underway and 250 local people signing a petition to reopen the park, the message is clear: our community needs this.
🌈 Our Vision: A Playpark for All
We want to rebuild the park from the ground up, creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging space where children of all abilities can play freely, and families can connect outdoors. It will complement our existing early years programmes, like:
Kiddie Connections toddler group
Baby nurture groups and our weekly Breastfeeding Cafe
Football and dance tots sessions
Community Cafe and Garden
Plots 4 Tots gardening club
Together, these groups help reduce isolation, build friendships, and support early development but they need a safe, outdoor space to truly thrive.
💬 What Our Community Says
“I walk past the park with my daughter every day. She asks why she can’t go in like she used to - it’s so sad. We don’t drive, and there’s nowhere else to go nearby. This park would mean everything to us.”
— Local Auchendinny parent
