Aim

Bridging age gaps through food, cooking, warmth, improving health and intergenerational connections to combat poverty in older adults

The area of Leigh Park is one of most deprived areas in the UK, where many are struggling with the cost of living, and find themselves with insufficient food and living in isolation.

Our vision is a community where no one faces hunger or isolation. We aim to empower older adults with essential healthy cooking skills, fostering intergenerational connections through sessions actively supported by young volunteers, improving health and wellbeing and fostering life chances for both volunteer and participant.  We envision a future where nutritious meals are accessible to all, regardless of budget, and where everyone feels a sense of belonging, built on mutual support and understanding between generations.

Your generous donations will directly fund:

  • Essential Ingredients & Equipment: We'll purchase affordable, nutritious ingredients along with basic cooking equipment to support our hands-on sessions.
  • Flexible Session Delivery: We'll cover the costs of running sessions  including evenings and weekends, ensuring accessibility for all. This creates a vital 'warm hub' during the winter months.
  • Batch Cooking Supplies: We'll provide containers and extra ingredients for batch cooking, allowing participants to prepare meals for future days, easing financial strain.
  • Outreach & Connection: We'll allocate funds to connect with vulnerable individuals through local housing associations, council services, and community groups, ensuring those who need support are reached.
  • Skilled Facilitators: We will use funds to pay for skilled people to run the sessions.
