Who we are and what we do
Tablehurst Farm is a community-owned biodynamic farm on the outskirts of Forest Row, East Sussex. We produce and sell biodynamic and organic food through our on-site farm shop and café.
Our farm is a vibrant ecosystem where we foster biodiversity, and enhance soil fertility. We maintain the highest ethical and animal welfare standards, continually seeking ways to improve the sustainability of our food production.
As a community-owned farm, every penny of profit is reinvested into our operations, which enhances our ability to cultivate high-quality food for our community.
A unique aspect of Tablehurst Farm is our small residential care home for adults with learning disabilities. Since the mid-1990s, it has provided a family-like setting for three long-term residents who actively participate in farm activities, gaining valuable skills and a sense of purpose.
Why do we need a new farm utility vehicle?
After many years of service, Rustina the loyal quad bike is retiring. Over time, her wear and tear has become too much, and she is no longer able to reliably carry out her daily tasks or be repaired. During her time with Tablehurst, she’s weathered harsh winters, helped deliver countless baby animals and been a farmer’s friend through many dark nights.
Utility vehicles and quad bikes are vital pieces of equipment on a farm, used daily to get into places that tractors can’t reach. These vehicles act as an emergency response vehicle for life and death situations on the farm, ensuring quick and safe movement across the farm. In livestock management, they facilitate feeding, herding and health checks over large areas.
With Rustina rolling off into retirement, we're in need of a new vehicle to join our team at Tablehurst to continue providing efficiency and safety to our daily farming operations. A utility vehicle, will allow us to farm more efficiently and offer a passenger seat so that our care residents can participate more fully within our farming activities.
As you can imagine, a utility vehicle does not come cheap – and with a loss of farming subsidies, we're looking to save every pound and penny to raise the £15,000 we need to buy a replacement.
Why your help is important
As a not-for-profit organisation, there are times when our resources fall short of the funding we need for vital farm materials and equipment to keep meeting the demands of our customers. This is why we're calling on you to donate towards this critical campaign. Any contribution - big or small - will hugely impact our ability to look after our animals and safeguard the farming team at Tablehurst Farm.
By supporting our crowdfunder, you help sustain a farming practice that heals the earth, supports local communities, and sets a benchmark for regenerative agriculture.
With your help, we can continue producing the food we all know and love.
