Appeal to buy FM transmitter and studio equipment for a community radio station in Northern Uganda
In Uganda, besides interpersonal communication, radio still remains the most and hugely power tool that deliver information, provide platforms for debate, open channels for communication, increase understaning of complex issues and thus empoer the ordinary people.
Radio is cheap, has a wider coverage and transcends the literacy barriers compared to TV and Newspapers.
Genehen Broadcasting Services (GBS) is a small media organsation established is 2013 with the aim to broadcast programmes on the socio-economic issues which are relevant to the issues that affect the communites, it also undertakes audience research to understand the ever evolving information needs of the audience such that the needs are incorporated into to the programming.
GBS continues to witness the information gaps as most radios do not engage/air programmes which are inline with the needs and preferences of the audience and would like to get into community oriented broadcasting and broaden the range of local services provided in this area by the commercial radios and be of a nature or have a content distinct from that of any radio stations already operating in this area and programmes aired are tailored primarily for the good of the members of the communities and in order to deliver social gain.
GBS will be a broadcast avenue for disemminating community awareness, sensitisation and campaigns on reproductive health, malaria, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Entreprenuership, tuberclosis, enviromental awareness and conservation, agriculture among other needs and preferences of the audience.
I am asking for your financial assistance to buy FM transmitter and studio equipment. GBS is currently having voice recorders, some computers, will settle broacast license, provide studio space, pool of volunters etc.
God bless you and thank you in advance.
