Aim

CJ is a fruity adventure pumping juice in to amazing community projects, connecting them to the rich abundance of Gloucestershire Orchards

Community Juice is a volunteer led social enterprise, producing high quality local apple juice, with amazing community projects: connecting them to the rich abundance of Traditional Orchards as well as generating some income to support their work.

Community Juice is a volunteer-led project bringing people together from different cultural backgrounds to connect with amazing local fruit, apple trees and orchards of Gloucestershire.

Our juice is made from Gloucestershire apples donated by local people, hand picked and pressed by volunteers at Day’s Cottage Farm, then bought by our customers.

All proceeds, beyond covering costs, go to community projects in Gloucestershire and to support us to run community apple events and workshops. This year we are proud to be working with Forces Hub (Gloucestershire Military Veterans), the Ewe Space community centre in Matson, and GARAS (Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers).

We need your support to get started.

We are building on 35 years of Orchard and Juicing experience from Helen and Dave. at Day's Cottage who have generously supported and guided us in all things Fruit.

A bit about us and why we’re embarking on this juicy journey

...

Working with what’s abundant locally

We LOVE APPLES and apples love Gloucestershire. There is so  much fruit, and so much space for more fruit trees in the county and it is obvious to us that this natural abundance could be fuelling and funding amazing community projects as well as giving people great opportunities to spend time in nature

Increasing Accessibility to Nature Connection

Inviting our community partners to the wild beauty of local orchards, through fun workshops and community days.

Building Connections Across Difference

Our aim is to have vibrant Community events in orchards bringing diverse communities communities, that would otherwise not share space, together to pick fruit, feast and celebrate community, apple trees and the Good Life.

Advocating for Traditional Orchards

We celebrate Community Fruit Culture and the protection, care and utilisation of Traditional Orchards, Community Orchards and home fruit growing.

The juice is flowing! and like the bees, we're buzzing...

We have already launched 4 juices in collaboration with our Community Partners :

Jackdaw’s Cradle - is our ‘house Juice’ inspired by the birds that nest in the old orchard trees each Spring at Day's Cottage, the home and heart of Community Juice

Veteran’s Pride - pro-juiced with the Gloucestershire Forces Hub, a network of organisations that offers purpose, pride and community to Veterans in Gloucestershire.

1783036266_1783036259522.pngTuffaah تُفّاح - pro-juiced with Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (GARAS) and Sanctuary Breaks who provide safety, emotional and practical support for migrants and those seeking asylum.

We have been connecting with these groups by selling the juice at their events and building some great working relationships, ready to start running some juicy collaborative events.

Why we need money:

1. To Fund the next phase of Juice Production

- To pay to produce 2500 big bottles and 5000 small bottles of juice. The caps, bottles, boxes, labels, equipment hire, electricity, water...so far all the labour is done on a voluntary basis

- After this initial investment the bottles will pay for themselves...each bottle we sell will pay for the next bottle we produce. Any surplus goes towards supporting our community activities or directly to our partner community organisations

2. To fund Community Juicing Events, Trainings and Crafts

- Mobile Community Juicing - everything we need to go in to a community centre and make fresh apple juice ....buying a portable scratter (makes the apples in to pulp) a manual press, containers ...

- Training/Workshops - upskilling local people in growing local fruit through orchard skills (juicing, pruning, grafting baby trees, planting and tree care) and natural processing/preserving (jams, chutneys, ferments, dehydrating)

1783037918_1783037910906.png

- Traditional/Modern Crafts
We want to increase accessibility to traditional crafts weaving them with modern and different cultural heritages reflecting the diversity of modern Gloucestershire.
We want to support diverse communities to make sustainable apple-based products that feed their communities in more ways than one. From planting the tree to storing the fruit we will support every part of the process.

Thank you for joining us on this blossoming journey!
