Not quite
Unfortunately this project was not successful.

I am writing to apply for funding from the Crowdfunder to support our charity, which provides martial arts and community acupuncture classes

Who are we?

Our organisation, Duk Moo Academy (charity number:1205525), has been actively involved in promoting health and wellness through alternative therapies and physical activities. We have identified a growing need for accessible martial arts and acupuncture services, which can significantly contribute to the community’s health, especially in areas of high deprivation such as Stanley.1721417460_ki_kong_training_(4).jpg

Why are we crowdfunding?

Stanley is a former colliery town and civil parish in County Durham, situated between Chester Le Street and Consett.

Stanley has a high percentage of antisocial behaviour orders, with 1000 people in Stanley having one, which equates to 22.1% versus a County Durham rate of 17.7% and an England rate of 14.7%. This causes many challenges to local services and takes up a wide range of resources from the Police and Crime Commission. Other figures of Stanley are:

Deprivation.

ᄋ Adults over 50% live in the top 10% of national employment deprivation.

ᄋ Over 69% of children live in the top 10% nationally, with over 90% living in the top 30%.

ᄋ Health Stanley has an 8% population in bad health; this is double the England average of 2%.

This highlights the need for more support and initiatives in Stanley to help reduce the burden on local services, along with supporting the reduction of the number of ASBOs.1721420340_acupuncture.jpg

Community Acupuncture: A community wellbeing centre specialising in treating parkinsons patient ,musculoskeletal (MSK) and strokes with acupuncture for all ages. By providing affordable acupuncture sessions, we aim to offer relief from chronic pain, stress, and other ailments, especially benefiting those who may not have access to such treatments otherwise due to the high cost of treatment. The project will involve a community space that can accommodate more people receiving treatment at a hugely reduced cost.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Funding Request: We are seeking a grant for cover the costs associated with hiring qualified instructors and qualified acupuncturist1721421581_master_kim_with_police_instructors2.jpg, securing a venue, purchasing equipment, and other operational expenses. This funding will enable us to offer these classes at a subsidised rate or free of charge for those in financial hardship.

Community impact

Impact: The anticipated impact of our project includes:

Improved physical health and fitness levels among participants.

Increased mental health support through stress relief and relaxation techniques.

Enhanced community engagement and social interaction.

Reduction in anti-social behaviour and supporting local services such as the police.

Giving the young people a safe space to access while learning new skills

Providing health care services which people living in deprivation may not otherwise be able to access.
