We wish to set up a sensory and community garden in our church grounds to help with social isolation and anxiety in the local area. The fun
We are starting up eco congregations and a lot of that work involves helping the community. This is work that we have carried out for a long time. We have a youth group whose main focus is "faith in action" and they help older people/homeless people etc but actually having a designated area is new. So many people in the community are interested in this, in particular coming out of the pandemic, and we feel that this will make a huge difference, in particular people struggling with anxiety, bereavement, coping/feeling supported with children with special needs and people living with dementia and their carers. We invite the local schools to the church and it would be lovely to have a designated place outdoors where it's safe to invite the schools along to plant flowers, display artwork on the trees etc or just "muck in" and have fun. This will be an all inclusive project that we feel with benefit the whole community. We will use the money for sensory gardens, community gardens and prayer spaces for the community.
