We are creating a community food forest to support mental health, well-being, skills development and local food provision.
Grow Wild York is tackling good health, well-being and reducing inequalities through bringing people together. We aspire to use nature, great food and meaningful work experiences to empower community, friendships, tackle loneliness and support young people into work.
To do this we are transforming 1.6 acres of grass paddocks into a community food forest re-wilding by creating a wildflower meadow, wildlife ponds and edible hedgerows .
A Food Forest is a sustainable and climate resilient method of food growing which follows the principles of permaculture.

Through the power of collaboration we are increasing our impact in the community. Money raised will support the creation of the Food Forest in partnership with the following organisations -

We'll be buying gardening equipment, fruit trees, edible shrubs, plants, seeds and compost. Working with our partners/volunteers to provide meaningful work experience through weekly sessions.
The food we grow is shared with our partners/volunteers or sold to Beetle Bank Farm kitchen.
We also partner with York Food Bank (link here) to provide their service users with fresh produce during the growing season.

We know times are tough please give what you are able. Thanks to the Save our Wild Isles Community Fund will raise £2 for every £1 you raise – turning every £10 into £30!
We'd love your help repairing our leaking shed, buying a green house and a chicken coop!
If you live or work in York, please do get in touch. Come and see us at work, you may leave with some yummy fruit or veg!
