To start a new community food club at a library to offer a service that provides food directly to locals suffering from food insecurity.

During the COVID-19 pandemic we were able to give out food parcels at our Glebe Farm Hub, this was a great way for us to immerse ourselves within the community and see what our community needs the most!
To help with food related issues as well as isolation, we want to set up a community food club. Food waste is a global issue, with 1/3 of all food globally produced being sent to landfill this food waste is unavoidable and can be eaten if it was properly managed. A community food club is a way of stopping edible food going into the bin and reduce food insecurity. Unlike food banks the fridges are available for anyone to use and promote great community cohesion. The food will be freely available to all members of the public.

Community fridges don’t just help with food insecurity and bringing fresh food into the community, the also have an impact on our environment and reduce the environmental cost of food waste which is a one of the contributors to greenhouse gas emissions.
We can help our planet by becoming responsible!

Welcome Change is a Community Interest Company working across Shard End, Lea Village and Glebe Farm & Tile Cross we aim to bring people together and make a real difference to their lives by offering support in areas such as debt and benefits and reducing isolation. We run a thriving community centre, a community garden, and two wellbeing hubs.
we aim "to provide safe and welcoming spaces in which people can access support, build skills and confidence, improve their health and wellbeing and become actively engaged in society."
By setting up a community food club we want to be able to bring a opportunity to our Glebe Farm Library Hub and create an excitement around food.

The community food club will be housed at our Glebe Farm Library Hub. The Glebe Farm & Tile Cross ward is one of the most deprived areas in Birmingham and this has a great impact on the people living in the area with high levels of childhood obesity and many adults living with depression. If we are lucky enough to get the community fridge, we would be able to teach the community about healthy eating and help to provide food to make nourishing meals.
Our Glebe Farm Hub offers the Community a range of different activities such as;

We are seeking your help to set up our community food club project to help support those who are living in the area. We plan to collect donations from local retailers, supermarkets and residents however we need your help to get us started! We are going to use the money to supply food for when we have limited donations.
