In partnership with local community cricket clubs, the Sussex Cricket Foundation and the Spen Cama Cricket Charitable Trust, Patcham High School are at an advanced stage of a community Cricket net project that we hope to install this summer ready for use from September 2024 onwards.
The enclosed, 3 lane, state of the art facility, will be a fantastic and important addition to the PE, sporting and physical activity provision available at the school and to the local community. Thanks to the support of the Sussex Cricket Foundation, the Spen Cama Cricket Charitable Trust and local community groups such as The Rotary Club we have already secured a large percentage of the funding required however we have made a commitment as a school and local cricket clubs (St Matthias and Brighton & Hove Crescent) to raise as much as we can from within the community. This is where we need you, our local community to support us to realise this project.
There are no community use Cricket net facilities in the immediate or wider local area. The school lost their cricket nets when the 3G was installed and they were not replaced. In short, unless you are a member of Cricket Club, there is no access to a cricket practice facility and if you are a member of a club then it is likely to be only a single mobile net which makes quality practice and coaching for multiple people difficult.
Our community vision is that this high quality Cricket facility will be used by students at PHS during school hours and then used by local Cricket Clubs, groups of friends and anyone and everyone in the community who wishes to use it outside of school hours. The 3 lanes will ensure that there is maximum opportunity to bat and bowl and the surface and materials used mean that the facility can be used all year.
The greatest benefit will be to the young people in our community. The Cricket nets, will compliment the existing facilities at the school (most notably the 3G, MUGA and swimming pool), all of which are used extensively by local community groups and clubs. With this facility in place there will continue to be generations of people in the local area who will profit from being physically active throughout the year, learning new and different skills, becoming part of teams and as a result reaping the physical, mental and social advantages that regular physical activity and sport can bring.
If you value the power of physical activity, sport and having high quality community facilities available locally it would be massively appreciated if you could donate towards this community project. Even if it is just a few pounds. Additionally if you are able to share this page to friends and family who you believe may want to support it then that would also make a difference.
If we can make this happen it will be brilliant for our local community.
Thank you for your support

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
