We are providing activities, meals, hampers, and presents from Santa to vulnerable individuals and their families during Christmas.
Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) wants to bring the joys of Christmas to everyone, no matter what their circumstances, and we invite you to help us in any way that you can. We will be providing support, cheer, and food to our community members, particularly those more vulnerable and in need, who may struggle over the festive period.
This year is going to be especially hard for all of our community, considering the increasing financial pressures, fuel poverty, and the still ongoing effects of COVID-19. We plan to provide a full sit-down Christmas dinner for vulnerable individuals on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day at our facility, The Elms in Redruth. We will also be creating ‘Hampers’ for families and individuals, providing food, and essentials to deal with increased economic pressures and presents. These will be available for pick-up on certain days during the festive period.
As well as food and gifts we are also planning a variety of online and drop-in services over the festive period; please, see our Facebook page for updates. We will also have some hamper deliveries for those more vulnerable. We hope that despite these challenging times we can still come together and have some Festive warmth and cheer and a real sense of community togetherness.
This year, we are also providing a Ukrainian Christmas to refugees of the war in the St Austell area. This will be on the 30th of December and we are expecting to be providing a sit-down meal, hampers, and gifts for children, for up to 400 refugees.
If you have a venue where we could place a collection station or if there is anything you could possibly donate or support with to help make this happen, that would be much appreciated. Please see a list of ideas for possible donations below. Please do not hesitate to get in touch by email or phone with any questions.
We know that our support over Christmas can go a long way, here is some feedback from last year’s recipients:
‘It was brilliant, made my Christmas, so nice to have some food and something to open, thank you so much.’
‘Excellent, beautiful beef, best I’ve had in a while, great services, very grateful to all involved.’
‘Everyone involved are angels, I feel very blessed, words can’t explain how lovely this was, bless all of you.’
This year we have continued to support our community as they struggle through the increase in challenges with a rise in demand for our support on issues ranging from mental health, finance, food, unemployment, and most commonly, social isolation. We continue to offer remote and face-to-face support, learning for adults and young people, social activities, a food delivery service, a crisis hotline, coaching and mentoring for progression, mental health workshops, as well as other services.
Thank you for your time, support, and consideration and any donation that you feel able to give. Please know we also appreciate that many people are also currently facing challenges and we understand if a donation is not possible at this time. Wishing you a happy healthy Christmas from us all at CN4C.
