Bridge the Gap Child Mental Health CIC is a multidisciplinary organisation supporting children, families and schools with mental health support and emotional education.
Bridge the Gap Child Mental Health C.I.C are committed to improve children's long-term outcomes by providing a quality emotional education and support through safe relationships with safe buffering adults alongside specialist practitioners.
Derby City has high areas of need in terms of mental health and children living in poverty and Bridge the Gap has been working to meet that need as a charitable organisation since 2019. The data this has given us allows us to accurately measure the impact of our support.
Bridge the Gap are looking at ways to fund the next 12 months of community hubs. We wish to provide our 6 week small group of 'Understanding Emotions and Boosting Self-esteem' sessions to disadvantaged students in Derby, at our inner city hub. Once the children have completed the 6 weeks they will then be able to access monthly 'colour and chat' drop-ins where they will be able to talk safely, without judgment, to a member of the Bridge the Gap team. Children can choose to stay for the full allocated time of drop-in for 15 minutes of peace from whatever chaos they might be facing.
We have a limited amount of services in our city that work directly with children under the age of 12 so this is a service is that filling a gap there rather than trying to replicate an already existing service.
Bridge the Gap are a relationship focused service with a multi-disciplinary team able to support and safeguard children effectively.
Emotional Literacy has been proven to improve emotional resilience and EQ. EQ is a better indicator of children's long-term life outcomes than IQ. Bringing groups of children together, we can facilitate a safe space for children to explore emotions safely, viewing others perspectives and making friends.
Wiring the neural pathways in a healthy way supports long-term mental health and well-being and raising their aspirations.
Our work makes a difference, you can read a report full of case studies across the service on our website but we also ask if you would be willing to read below about the impact of our community sessions on children below.

Thank you SO much for your support. We are so committed and passionate about being able to meet the needs of our community, we see this crisis growing and so must we.
