The Eggbuckland Community Hall kitchen is now over 30 years old and needs replacing. Run by volunteers, the community cafe provides a hot meal and drinks, usually a nourishing homemade soup and cakes, we see over 30 people attend each week, many are retired and living alone, some with physical mobility difficulties. The cafe is open to everyone and is a welcoming, warm safe space to come and socialise for a few hours, for a chat a laugh and company.
The cubs, scouts and guides, a parent and preschool children’s group, a dance school, the U3A and many other social groups also use the hall and kitchen.
The kitchen floor has failed; meaning the old kitchen units, which are falling apart, will also need removing and replacing. All the work is going to be carried out by volunteers from the local community.
