We want to train a team of specialist volunteers who will give advice, and signpost people who are struggling financially
Who are the JC Foundation Trust?
The Jewish Community Foundation Trust is based in North Manchester and has been actively supporting the community for the last 6 years through a variety of projects which include
Community Hubs
More recently we have established Hubs in North Manchester that bring people together of all ages and all levels of religious observance to meet regularly, to address the issue of social isolation and to share knowledge, skills and offer information on support available. Most importantly though it has brought people together, new friendships and support networks have been formed.
Our project covers the recruitment of a team of volunteers, our Community Angels. Their role is to discreetly connect with people who are at risk from money management issues, isolation and rising costs of living. They provide advice, guidance, and signpost people. They specifically help those that experience disproportionate challenges, particularly those from minority ethnic backgrounds, younger adults, and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
Waste Not Want Not project.
It has been recognised that for a healthy childhood and for children and adults to combat illness it is important that a healthy diet is available. We have contacted local shops who provide us with healthy food at reduced cost that is nearing its sell-by date for distribution. Fresh fruit meat and fish is purchased fresh for distribution. At present as a trial, we have established a fortnightly distribution of fresh fruit, vegetables and occasionally fish to local families. We would like to expand this project to reach more families that have been identified as requiring this support including purchasing Kosher meat. The food is distributed discreetly by our volunteers.
The team at JCFT are asking for your support on these projects so we can continue supporting the community in which we all live and of which we are very proud to be a part of.
