Crowdfunder Backer Update #3 - The Spooky Month Commences

As the Come Bargain crowdfunder wrapped up, we forgot that October brings an inevitable deluge of eldritch, wyrd, and weird material. Some of it excellent (I am a sucker for a toffee apple), some of it not (I shall name no names).

Meanwhile, we are getting preparations for our own wyrd show sorted. From the creative to the practical, here's what's going on.

1. Come Murder An Uncanny Thing nears completion

An ongoing challenge behind the scenes has been working out how to make the third part of the Trilogy as enjoyable as the other two, while also keeping it distinctive. If Come Bargain is a ritual, and Come Worship a comedy, what should Come Murder be?

Last week there was a bit of a breakthrough. We've been thinking of it as a tragedy for a while, one in which the community have power over the uncanny thing they're relating to. But after a little bit of time digging into Shakespearean dramaturgy, we've worked out where the tragedy starts and what exactly draws the audience into the world.

We're not going to spoil it. Yet. But we're feeling pretty happy now.

2. Preparing For Fulfilling

More practically, I've spent the morning going through your various pledges. That's included digital rewards (we had the first TTRPG session for Philanthropist+ backers last night, which was great fun) and planning how to fulfil the physical rewards (mugs, coasters, pamphlets & more).

For those of you who supported us at Celebrant level or higher, I'll send each one of you a personal email in the next few days to say thank you (and confirm what's heading your way). If you don't get an email by the end of the week, let me know.

3. Other Jobs

In other news, we're taking a look at our likely venue next week (very cool, very central), had some promising leads for VIP supporters (very cool, very people-who-inspire-us), and are drawing up a casting call to release as soon as possible after our venue (and thus dates) are fixed.

Plus, thanks to a few backers asking, making a final decision: what should we call the trilogy? On the one hand, The Come Bargain Trilogy emphasises what you do as the audience (i.e. our protagonist). On the other, The Uncanny Things Trilogy emphasises the thing that most obviously makes the show stand out (i.e. wyrd stuff).

If you've got an opinion about which one would attract you and your friends more, let us know!

For now, looking forward to seeing many of you soon, and more anon.

Enjoy the spooky season...

Leo
